Moving? No Sweat!
Let me get a little lifestyle-y on you for a second. Moving house – typically pretty high up there on the stress scale. I moved house on Monday and I’ve gotta say, I had Buddhist monk levels of Zen going on throughout the whole thing. I guess that’s what comes with being a minimalist and having next-to-no possessions. There were many reasons for the move, some pretty emotional, but I was determined for the day to be plain sailing. So when Mitchum approached me and asked me to test out how their deodorant stood up to one of my ‘great moments in life’, I figured this was as good a time as any to see how it’d hold up.
I first moved to London to come to university back in 2000. I had only been here once before I moved. I was a Northern bird, completely in awe of this incredible city. Before long, I had gravitated towards West London as a place I liked to hang out, with Notting Hill and Portobello Road becoming like my Mecca every weekend. I just loved the vibe of the place and how ridiculously pretty it was. Notting Hill was my dream life. I’d sit around there and imagine what it must be like to live there, how awesome that would be. But it was something I’d never be able to do, I told myself. It was just a pipe dream. Nevertheless, I put it on my Field of Dreams list and kept wishing for it in the back of my mind. I moved countries, several times over the years, came back to London in 2011 and lived in the East. It was great, but I never forgot about my Field of Dreams.
Dudes, on Monday, I moved to Notting Hill.
So when we talk about wishing for something so hard and it actually becoming a reality – yeah, we can most definitely consider that a ‘great moment in life’. Realising you’ve arrived in that moment can bring on a fair amount of stress in itself.
I spent Monday trying not to let the enormity of it all overcome me. I had boxes to move and my pup to take care of and unpacking and preparing to possibly meet neighbours and all sorts of things. I didn’t want to be a hysterical, hot, sweaty mess for the whole day.
So this Mitchum deodorant really was put to the test. And wouldn’t you know it, just when I’d finished lugging boxes around and unpacking everything and was ready to collapse in a heap, I took the dog outside for a moment and my new neighbours just happened to be strolling by and stopped for a chat. I felt fresh, and more importantly, smelled great! Test officially passed Mitchum! Kudos!
Now all that’s left for me to do is settle into my new home and marvel at how the Field of Dreams really works. Making a power move (in more ways than one) to your dream zone? Yeah, no sweat. I’ve also been putting Mitchum to the test in my workouts and while I’m teaching spin and it has definitely held up. It’s nice to finish a workout and not smell totally funky!
