Claressa Shields: Teen Champ

The story of Claressa ‘T-Rex’ Shields is a special one. At just 17 years old, T-Rex is the youngest female boxing competitor at this year’s Olympics. A team of film makers are in the process of documenting the US teen’s journey. So far, they’ve been filming her for six months. On the day they met, it was Claressa’s 17th birthday and she was having a water balloon fight with friends. Tomorrow, she’ll step into the ring for her quarter final fight and a shot at edging one step closer to an Olympic medal.

She’s had one hell of a year and in September, whether she’s Olympic champ or not, she’ll be back in class at Northwestern High School in her hometown of Flint, Michigan.

The film makers are crowd sourcing to raise funds to finish the film. Check out their Kickstarter page for more info on the project, the very impressive Claressa and how you can get involved.
